(ZYGA) WALISZEWSKI

Zygmunt (Zyga) Waliszewski ზიგმუნტ (ზიგა) ვალიშევსკი. 1897-1936) was a Polish artist, whose name is associated with the history of the Tbilisi Avant-garde of the 1910s. Waliszewski lived and worked in Georgia from 1903 to 1920, while In the second half of his life, he became a prominent figure in the Polish art scene. 

During World War I, Waliszewski served at the frontlines, where he painted an entire gallery of portraits depicting military men. In 1919, he was commissioned to paint the curtain for the Tbilisi Opera House.

In 1936, Waliszewski painted the ceiling of one of the towers at Wawel Castle in Krakow.
