ELGUJA AMASHUKELI

Artist in focus – Elguja Amashukeli (1928-2002) was a Georgian sculptor, painter, graphic artist and book illustrator. He graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts in 1955. He was a student of Nikoloz Kandelaki. Amashukeli, whose work is diverse in genre, was mainly a monumentalist. His works are characterized by internal dynamism, in some cases by sharp expression.
