TENGIZ (SEPO) SEPIASHVILI

Sepo - Tengiz Sepiashvili (თენგიზ (სეფო) სეფიაშვილი) is one of the first artists in Georgia who took an interest in kinetic art and created large-scale site-specific works. He also works as a graphic artist and painter. Sepo was born in Tbilisi in 1946 and studied in the Faculty of Architecture at the Georgian Polytechnic Institute. Since his graduation, he has worked as an architect and exhibition designer. He has authored and co-authored the creative design of Georgian pavilions in seventeen countries: among them in the cities of Zagreb (1976, gold medal), Moscow (1982, silver medal), and Dijon (1995, gold medal). From 1996 to 2000 Sepo served as the principal painter of Tbilisi. In 1998 he was awarded a Medal of Honor of the Republic of Georgia. Since 2010 Sepo has produced kinetic sculptures and collage works. In 2011 he became a member of the London Museum of Kinetic Art. In 2014 Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House published the book "Sepo," which includes all of his landmark works (compiled and annotated by Ketevan Kintsurashvili and Davit Janiashvili).
