USHANGI KHUMARASHVILI - WORKS FROM PRIVATE COLLECTIONS

Ushangi Khumarashvili was born in Telavi in 1948.

Graduated from the theater department of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.

Worked as a production designer in a theater in Telavi, but after a conflict with the director he quit his job.

At one time taught at a children's art school in Telavi, where one of his students was Zura Gikashvili.

For several years he sold small works in a gallery in Telavi, which enabled him to earn a living.

While living in Telavi, he participated at art exhibitions in Tbilisi, became known in Tbilisi art circles and moved to Tbilisi permanently in 1990s.

In 2018 Ushangi had a large solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Georgia, with the help of friends the catalog was published.

During the last few years of his life he frequently changed studios, not having his own.

Ushangi Khumarashvili died in 2023.

Exhibition will open on August, 5 at 19:00 and continue until September, 5 inclusive.
